Housing Reporting Data Warehouse Build
Building the foundation for the future.
Joseph Rowntree

Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT) was transitioning to Civica Cx and needed to overhaul their data processes. iStride provided a solution by building a robust SQL-based data architecture, automating the reporting process with Power BI, and training the team. This streamlined data management, improved reporting efficiency, and reduced manual effort.
The Challenge
JRHT was transitioning to a new housing management system (Civica Cx) and saw an opportunity to overhaul its existing data processes. Monthly KPIs and performance reports were heavily reliant on manual spreadsheet work — a time-consuming and errorprone method that delayed access to critical business information.
The Solution
Working closely with the JRHT Insight team, we set out and built a robust SQL-based data architecture, including fact and dimension tables. This provided the foundation for an automated ETL pipeline and Power BI data models, enabling end-to-end much simplified reporting. Crucially, JRHT were involved throughout the process — training the team in SQL and data warehousing principles, so they could confidently extend and adapt the solution as their needs evolved.
The Results
The team now saves dozens of staff hours every month, with business-ready reports available by the 2nd of each month — a dramatic improvement from the previous 10-day delay. This has allowed more time to be spent analysing and interpreting performance trends, rather than preparing the data. JRHT’s Insight team has also gained significant technical skills, helping to future-proof their reporting capability.
If you would like to take the development of a corporate warehouse seriously, you really should be considering a proper Medallion Architecture:
"The service was very tailored and flexible, giving us what we needed, when we needed it. Postimplementation support was excellent — every query was met with clear, understandable advice that help us make improvements independently."
